A Grief Magic Ritual for the Winter Solstice

  Enroll in Course

All of our hearts are broken.

With multiple genocides unfolding in real-time right before our eyes, this historical moment is inviting us into a deeper encounter with our humanity. We are being asked to expand so we can hold unfathomable and unbearable pain with and for our kin in Palestine, in the Sudan, and in all the other places crying for justice and mercy.

Inviting in the grief of our kin inevitably brings a reckoning with our own pain. But if we don't intentionally make space for our old hurts, our own unwitnessed and unprocessed grief will likely cause us to shut down, to harden our hearts, to close our eyes and our hands to those who need our solidarity

Are you willing?

These last few years, I have apprenticed myself to grief, and I am no longer scared of the pain of humanity. I have learned that I can grow to hold even more pain and even more joy when I connect to a larger container, and the two containers that help me do that are ritual & sacred space, and community.

When grief grows heavy and hard to hold, we know it's time to expand our containers. It's time to make even more safe, tender, cozy space for our grief, and it's time to do it together. Which is exactly what I'm proposing we do together: some nervous system magic to close out this dumpster fire of a fucking year.

I will be offering some guided relaxation & visualization, journaling & reflection prompts, a tarot pull, as well as (optional, always) some opportunities for giving & receiving witness for our grief.

This event is going to involve much more practice & embodiment, and much less teaching than I normally do, so I'm also including my super-popular Grief Magic workshop from March 2022, for those of you nerds (you know who you are) who might want more content to sink their teeth into. The Grief Magic content is ready for you as soon as you register.

** I know the header at the top says "for the Winter Solstice," that was the original plan, but I decided to postpone the event and now I can't change the copy. We're just all gonna have to deal with it.

Fanny Priest

I’m Fanny Priest (she/her.) I'm a writer, educator, and coach specializing in developmental and attachment trauma repair. I’m a queer, fat, neurodivergent (Autism & ADHD) and polyamorous witch; a mama of two; and a native French speaker. I love tarot, stationery, 90's grunge, weed, collecting rainbow mugs, putting my feet in the grass, decaf coffee, and literally all of the dogs. I’m a Sagittarius sun, Cancer moon, Taurus rising, and an aspiring Guns N' Roses cover band drummer.

I help witches & weirdos, queers & creatives, misfits & mystics repair the relationship with their bodies, their feelings, and their needs. I teach folks how to build self-trust and learn to be safe caregivers to themselves; to reduce the pressure of shame; befriend grief; and expand their capacity to feel & receive.

Trauma is a relational and spiritual wound, and so the medicine needs to be relational and spiritual as well. When it comes to creating the change we desire in our lives, our relationships, and our world, we don't need to try harder, we need to feel safer.
